My Sunday: Spent 60% of today mourning the loss of Tatiana Maslany's Golden Globe, 30% crying tears of happiness for Frozen's snag as Best Animated Feature Film and Amy Poehler's conquest as Best Actress in Comedy Television for Parks & Recreation. Oh, and 10% devouring my attempt at the Blogilates healthy and clean meat ball recipe (which, by the way, receives a delectable rating of 7/10. Sriracha required).
While I would love to voice my rant on this year's 71st Golden Globe Awards (starting with Ryan Seacrest's unnecessary commentary and culminating with Sofia Vergara's swoon-worthy figure), I think I shall save my thoughts for a seperate post, Fashion Police-meets-E! News-style. Did I also mention how utterly disappointed I am that Tatiana Maslany wasn't blessed with a Golden Globe or even a mere interview or camera pan? Get it right (I'm looking at you E!).
Anyway, back to more satorial manners... I am so excited to finally share my first outfit post of 2014! Well, to be quite honest, I actually shot an initial outfit post during the first week of January, featuring a heavy dose of black, leather, and a splash of rose gold. However, while in post-production, I ended up dissatisfied with how the photos turned out and decided to scrap the whole post together, leaving my ill-fated pixels trapped in my trashbin. I am sure other bloggers must share this same ritual every once in a while, right? (At least, I hope so...)
Let me just glorify how wonderful the weather is in Southern California once again. Back in NYC, I would most likely be freezing to my demise. Only a January day in LA will permit you to don a simple outfit of jeans and a top without needing to slather on the requisite gloves, hats, and scarves that normal winters boast. Lately, I have ventured down the unconvential denim path, daring to shed my typical blue jeans in place for patterned or color. These oxblood skinny jeans from Forever 21 was a wise $28 spent, for it not only features a rich hue, but is melts at touch. Comfortable jeans rank priority in my book. I fortunately scored these gorgeous cognac suede Topshop ankle boots while I was in Vegas over Christmas. Its dainty heel is perfectly adequate for a petite frame like me! My obsession with vests proliferated during my first semester of college; what began as a simple fur vest during the summer eventually expanded to leather vests and now, the ultra-versatile denim vest, which pairs extremely well over textured and printed tops.
Here's a teaser of what is to come this month on Runaway In LA: A style guide/quiz based on a certain Disney flick, a post-Christmas shopping haul, and perhaps even a "travel diary" or so. Time to make those resolutions into a reality!
